Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes, my philosophy is you should give birth where you feel safest and most comfortable – whether that’s at home or in the hospital.
-
I see a huge part of my role in supporting the partner, if there is one. Both in offering hands-on instruction so they can feel their most useful, being a listening ear if things get scary or simply, or making sure you both eat and drink so you can stay strong and alert as you welcome your baby.
-
I’ll help communicate your birth preferences to your care team. If plans change, I’ll help you to understand your options, so you can make informed decisions as they arise.
Birth can’t be fully planned but I’lll make sure that through our time together you feel prepared to navigate changes or decisions as they arise. In the moment, I’ll be there to think through your options and help you decide what’s best for you and your baby.

Absolutely! Once we begin working together, you can reach me by call, text, or email to chat at any time. If you’ve opted for postpartum support, this continues for 6 weeks after birth. I’m there for you to lean on, ask all of the random questions that may come up, and talk you through any concerns you may have!

Yes, I offer both daytime and overnight postpartum support as standalone services.

I will do my absolute best to be with you. In the unlikely event that I cannot, I will arrange for a backup doula who I know and trust to support you. However, this has not happened to date!

Yes! In Canada, doulas cannot direct-bill to insurance, however, please rest assured I'm eligible for most insurance reimbursement (you will need to check with your specific provider). I am also a Carrot-approved doula and am registered with the Doulas for Aboriginal Families Grant Program (DAFGP).
